Job Summary:

The Environment Modeling Artist is responsible for interpreting client reference materials, collaborating with the modeling Lead and Supervisor to plan an approach to an environment's construction, and building all needed assets using typical tools such as Maya. The successful candidate will assemble those assets in the Unreal engine to create the final assembly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build production-ready, artistically appealing, and technically sound 3D models based on specific project needs, balancing requirements of all downstream departments.
• Construct and dress environments using manual and procedural techniques within the Unreal Engine.
• Utilize Unreal Engine's blueprint systems to increase efficiency when dressing environments.
• Plan a modular approach to maximize asset reuse and overall environment flexibility.
• Revise and/or cleanup models sent by clients.
• Assist in guiding new hires in the use of pipeline tools and best practices.
• Identify and address any issues/problems, working with the Lead to plan corrective action.

Requirements:

• Degree/diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years' production experience in Animated Feature Films, Television, Commercial, and/or Video Game Production.
• Masterful knowledge of Maya and zBrush is required.
• Experience with Unreal Engine is strongly desired.
• Familiarity with SpeedTree, World Machine, or other environment building tools is a plus.
• Ability to make creative/artistic/aesthetic judgment calls.
• Strong understanding of downstream department processes and needs.
• Strong aesthetic sense.
