About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Flooring Assistant to join our team at Nickel City Flooring Inc. as a Floor Layer's Helper. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting our experienced floor layers with various tasks related to flooring installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and Unloading Materials: Assist in loading and unloading construction materials, such as tiles, hardwood, and resilient floor coverings, from delivery trucks to the work site.
  • Preparing Floors for Installation: Prepare floors for installations by cleaning, inspecting, and making any necessary repairs to ensure a smooth installation process.
  • Assisting with Tile Installation: Assist experienced floor layers with setting tiles in place, applying pressure to affix them to the base, and cutting and fitting tiles around obstacles and openings.
  • Measuring and Cutting Materials: Measure and cut materials, such as tiles and hardwood, to the required specifications.
  • Removing Excess Grout: Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout to ensure a clean and professional finish.
Work Environment

As a Flooring Assistant, you will work in a fast-paced construction environment with a focus on safety and quality. You will be required to work at heights, lift heavy materials, and be exposed to dust and noise.

Requirements
  • Physical Demands: This role requires a high level of physical fitness, including the ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are essential for this role, as you will be working closely with experienced floor layers and other team members.
  • Teamwork: A strong team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and take direction.
