About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and managing various environmental projects, including soil management, surface and groundwater quality monitoring, and contaminated land characterization and remediation.
Key Responsibilities- Act as project manager for environmental projects, including preparation of calls for tender, selection of bidders, monitoring of costs and schedules, quality of deliverables, and supervision of work.
- Support the Port Infrastructure and Maintenance departments in planning and implementing environmental measures for certain infrastructure projects, including soil management and the application of appropriate environmental impact mitigation measures.
- Evaluate projects on Port of Québec territory under the Impact Assessment and Mitigation Process (IAMP) to determine the acceptability of projects proposed by the Infrastructure Department or by users of the port territory.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise the disposal, removal, monitoring, and traceability of contaminated soils and sediments with various subcontractors.
- Coordinate contaminated land characterization and remediation projects.
- Follow-up on soil piles with engineering, maintenance, and user departments to determine origin of pile, related project, etc.
- Carry out studies and technical reports, and determine temporary storage sites during the analysis period.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise surface and groundwater quality monitoring.
- Be responsible for environmental monitoring of the territory in collaboration with environmental technicians and port users.
- Collaborate in the continuous improvement of environmental management tools, notably in collaboration with the Port of Québec's innovation team.
- Act as environmental watchdog and respond to emergencies and complaints by coordinating the application of corrective measures related to his sector, alternating with team members.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to see projects through to completion.
- Environmental and project management expertise.
- A good team player who likes to help others.
- Experienced in a similar role, with a minimum of 2 years' experience as a project manager.
- Field experience in an industrial environment.
- Knowledge of the maritime environment.
