Position Overview:

The Mining Engineering Manager will report directly to the Director of Construction & Engineering at Skeena. This role is pivotal in steering the Detailed Engineering Design and Procurement (EP) of the Eskay Creek Process Plant.

As Skeena's Client Representative to the primary EP Consultant, the Mining Engineering Manager will oversee the multi-disciplinary EP on behalf of the company.

This position is essential for ensuring that Safety, Construction Execution, and Operational Effectiveness are integrated into the Detailed Engineering as the design progresses.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust multi-disciplinary working knowledge to guide engineering advancements towards Skeena's collective objectives.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in design, particularly in earthworks and water/slurry pumping systems.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Electrical and Controls/Instrumentation design.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive grasp of the Procurement and Contract Management process.
  • Show proficiency in Project Controls and Planning/Scheduling to achieve budgetary and scheduling targets.
  • Collaborate with EP Consultant Discipline Leads and Engineering Department/Design Managers to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Act as a liaison with Process Engineering, Project Controls, Project Management, Procurement and Contracts, Construction, and client teams.

Qualifications:
  • A degree in Mining Engineering or a related field is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10+ years of relevant Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) experience or a comparable combination of experience is required.
  • Experience in the mining sector is essential, particularly in a New Build Construction context.
  • Practical field experience, especially with new-build and brownfield construction, is advantageous.
  • Proficient computer skills using the MS Office suite are mandatory.
  • This role requires a blend of presence at the Vancouver corporate office and the Eskay Creek site.
  • The incumbent must be willing to travel to various work locations or events outside of standard office hours and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
