Human Resources Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Consultant to join our team at the City of St. Catharines. As a key member of our HR department, you will play a crucial role in supporting and advising our staff to ensure alignment with corporate policies, legal requirements, and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Labour Relations and Organizational Development:
- Engage in all aspects of labour relations, including negotiations and grievance handling.
- Stay informed on legislation, arbitration decisions, and industry trends.
- Oversee employee wellness and non-occupational disabilities management.
- Investigate complaints and provide resolution recommendations.
- Participate in Job Evaluation Committees for job classification.
- HR Policy Implementation and Compliance:
- Review, update, and develop corporate policies to ensure effectiveness.
- Support managers in interpreting and implementing policies and collective agreements.
- Maintain compliance with legislation and regulations.
- Employee Development and Relations:
- Provide coaching, counseling, and resources for career development and performance management.
- Lead employee counseling meetings and oversee Attendance Support and Management Program.
- Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:
- Coordinate all recruitment activities from needs analysis to pre-employment assessments.
- Develop partnerships with educational institutions for co-op recruitment.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct new employee orientation and assist in policy development.
- Coordinate HR functions and compile HR metrics for analysis.
- Provide support to HR team and perform assigned duties.
- University degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) or Certified HR Professional (CHRP).
- Five years of HR experience in various areas.
- Proficiency in interpreting employment legislation and regulations.
- Ontario Class G driver's license with a clean record.
- Self-motivated with initiative and continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in multitasking and time management.
- Collaborative and maintains confidentiality.
- Skilled in problem identification and management support.

- Salary Range: $94,058 - $110,055
