Your Role

As a Senior Research Advisor within our Research and Innovation Services team, you will leverage your expertise in research to promote and advance the innovative initiatives at Stantec. This permanent full-time position is integral to our Innovation Office, where you will engage with cutting-edge science and technology projects and facilitate access to government funding opportunities.

In this role, you will report directly to the Manager of Research and Innovation Services, contributing to our strategic objective of enhancing research services within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educate stakeholders on the strategic application of research funding mechanisms to bolster technical capabilities.
  • Manage the annual process of developing research funding claims, which includes:
    • Ensuring all team members understand their responsibilities.
    • Collaborating with technical leaders to identify eligible research activities.
    • Consolidating eligible projects from various departments into cohesive funding applications.
    • Assisting researchers in articulating the eligibility of their work.
    • Evaluating potential claims to quantify the organization's investment.
    • Reviewing technical descriptions and finalizing claims.
    • Addressing additional funding-related inquiries from regulatory bodies.
    • Implementing research service programs that leverage your expertise to strengthen the organization.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Outstanding listening and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a focus on assisting technical experts in crafting clear project descriptions.
  • Robust technical knowledge, with the capability to comprehend advanced technologies across various sectors.
  • Experience in conducting research within a technical consulting environment.
  • Proficient in remote collaboration through digital communication tools.
  • Adept at managing administrative tasks while focusing on strategic objectives.

Education and Experience

  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Possession of a PMP designation or equivalent project management experience is a plus.
