Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the analysis and interpretation of laboratory results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and support to laboratory staff, ensuring that all testing is performed accurately and efficiently.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Staff Development: Mentor and coach laboratory staff to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory management process, ensuring that all supplies and equipment are properly managed and maintained.
  • Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate and deliver training programs for laboratory staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve technical and operational issues in a timely and effective manner.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited medical laboratory technology program or equivalent education.
  • Registration: Must be registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.
  • Experience: Minimum three years experience as a laboratory technologist required.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated leadership skills, and ability to mentor and coach staff.
  • Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of current technical methodologies, performance standards, and evidence-based practice.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position working days/evenings/nights, including weekends and statutory holidays. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team environment.
