We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by analyzing and processing laboratory specimens.
Key Responsibilities- Specimen Processing: Accession and process laboratory specimens, including grossing, embedding, and cutting of tissue blocks.
- Microtome Operation: Safely operate microtomes to cut tissue blocks and prepare slides for staining and examination.
- Staining and Slide Preparation: Prepare and stain slides using various techniques, including immunohistochemistry.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, including IHC stainers.
- Quality Control: Participate in quality control activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with laboratory staff, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Certification: Medical Laboratory Technologist certification from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
- Experience: Minimum five years of experience in general histology in a hospital setting.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, including grossing, embedding, and staining. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Education: Completion of a Medical Laboratory Technologist program from an accredited institution.
This is a full-time position working in a fast-paced laboratory environment. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
