Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Family Law Paralegal Specialist to join our team at a leading boutique law firm in the areas of construction, commercial, and matrimonial dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and opposing counsel for the collection, review, and production of documents;
  • Draft routine correspondence and pleadings, including Form F8 Financial Statements, Affidavits, Notices of Application, and Lists of Documents;
  • Review and prepare transcript summaries and assist lawyers with all aspects of trial preparations;
  • Work closely with lawyers to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks;
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of BC Supreme Court Rules, court practices, and procedures;
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in Family Law Act and related legislation;
  • Provide exceptional support to lawyers and clients, ensuring high-quality service and timely communication;
  • Manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively;
  • Utilize technology, including Adobe, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, to streamline tasks and improve efficiency;
  • Contribute to a positive and productive work environment, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of litigation experience with a specialty in family law;
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary LAA and/or paralegal program or the real-world equivalent;
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of BC Supreme Court Rules, court practices, and procedures;
  • Thorough knowledge of Family Law Act;
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and prioritization skills;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and desire to provide quality work with a high level of accuracy;
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters;
  • High client service orientation;
  • Strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently, take initiative, and be resourceful;
  • Proficiency in file organization and time management;
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
