Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients and opposing counsel for the collection, review, and production of documents.
  • Draft routine correspondence and pleadings, including Form F8 Financial Statements, Affidavits, Notices of Application, and Lists of Documents.
  • Review and prepare transcript summaries.
  • Assist lawyers with trial preparations, including preparing for court hearings and trials.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of litigation experience with a specialty in family law.
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary LAA and/or paralegal program or the real-world equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of BC Supreme Court Rules, court practices, and procedures, as well as filing deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Family Law Act.
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a desire to provide quality work with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • High client service orientation.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently, take initiative, and be resourceful.
  • Proficiency in file organization and time management.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
