About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented EEG/EMG Specialist to join our Neurology and Rehabilitation team at Sinai Health. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with neurologists and other healthcare professionals to prioritize patient referrals and facilitate timely assessments.
  • Support the ambulatory EMG/EEG clinic, including receiving patients, obtaining medical history, and preparing them for examinations.
  • Explain test procedures to patients, obtain consent, and ensure their cooperation during examinations.
  • Apply surface electrodes, report abnormal clinical manifestations, and perform calibration procedures on electrodiagnostic instruments.
  • Manipulate instrument controls, maintain equipment, and ensure patient results are saved appropriately in the patient health record.
  • Report any need for repairs or maintenance with Biomed.
Requirements
  • Registration with the Canadian Association of Electroneurophysiology Technologists and/or the Canadian Board of Registration of EEG Technologists.
  • Successful completion of a Diploma of Technology in Electrophysiology or a two-year hospital-based training program.
  • CPR certification.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Expertise in nerve conduction studies and adult and neonatal electroencephalograms in inpatient and outpatient settings, including adult and neonatal ICUs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish successful rapport with patients, public, and staff.
  • Capacity and sensitivity to deal with severely ill patients and their circumstances.
  • Self-directed learner with excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
