About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Neurophysiologist to join our team at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. As a Surgical Neuromonitoring Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients undergoing complex surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with surgeons to identify patient structures at risk and develop effective monitoring strategies
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with patients about IONM tests and procedures
  • Accurately place electrodes on patients and monitor waveforms using Cadwell's cascade software
  • Keep the surgical team informed of patient status throughout the procedure
  • Upload IONM surgical logs to Excel efficiently and accurately
  • Maintain IONM equipment and report any issues to the team lead
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues to ensure accurate data collection
  • Stay up-to-date with current literature in IONM
  • Be available for on-call duties (approx. 7-8 days/month)
Requirements
  • B.Sc. in Health Science or Biological Science
  • M.Sc. in Health Science or Biological Science preferred
  • Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring Graduate Certification required or CNIM certification preferred
  • Minimum one year of intra-operative neuromonitoring experience in a large Canadian tertiary care centre preferred
  • Thorough understanding of anatomy and neurophysiology
  • Proven communication and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C, and AED certifications
  • Experience performing EEG or EMG or evoked potentials
