Job Title: EEG/EMG Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled EEG/EMG Technician to join our Neurology and Rehabilitation team at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to cutting-edge research and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other EEG/EMG technicians and members of the neurology team on workflow and patient caseload coverage
  • Support the ambulatory EMG/EEG clinic, including receiving patients at reception and obtaining medical history
  • Prioritize inpatient referrals to facilitate timely assessment and patient flow
  • Explain the test procedure to the patient and obtain cooperation necessary for a complete examination
  • Obtain patient consent for procedures
  • Prepare the patient and apply a variety of surface electrodes as required
  • Report abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the test to physician supervisor
  • Perform appropriate calibration procedure on the electrodiagnostic instrument for standard recordings
  • Manipulate instrument controls for optimal recording of electrical responses
  • Keep equipment clean and in operating condition, detect instrument malfunctions, make minor maintenance adjustments
  • Ensure patient results are saved appropriately in the patient health record
  • Report any need for repairs or maintenance with Biomed

Requirements:

  • Registration with the Canadian Association of Electroneurophysiology Technologists and/or the Canadian Board of Registration of EEG Technologists
  • Successful completion of a Diploma of Technology in Electrophysiology or a two year hospital-based training program
  • CPR certification
