Job Title: Content Expert/Curriculum Developer for Human Service Practice
Job Summary:
Thompson Rivers University is seeking a qualified Content Expert/Curriculum Developer to lead the development of a major revision of HUMS 2221: Theoretical Foundations in Human Service Practice. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Instructional Designer and collaborate with the course development team to create a comprehensive and engaging online course.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions to develop a detailed course planning document.
- Develop and revise content, including learning activities and assessments, to ensure relevance and appropriateness for an online continuous entry course.
- Create multimedia and active learning activities to promote student engagement and experiential learning.
- Choose effective and accessible resources, prioritizing Open Educational Resources (OERs) and TRU's e-Library collection.
- Accurately cite sources and identify third-party material requiring copyright clearance.
- Follow the guidance of the Instructional Designer on the inclusion of AI-generated content.
- Doctorate in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or EdD with a Master's degree in Social Work or Child and Youth Care.
- Minimum of five years of full-time practice experience as a social worker or child and youth care worker.
- Demonstration of current and ongoing engagement in the course subject matter through practice, research, and/or scholarship of teaching.
- Proven course development skills in a face-to-face or distance environment.
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level, preferably with entry-level students.
- Demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods.
- Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
- Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula.
- Demonstrated ability to write in a clear and consistent style, with grammatical accuracy.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and consultative manner.
- Experience or training in facilitating online instruction is an asset.
