About the Role

The Building Maintenance Technician III is a key member of our facilities team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. This includes performing routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, as well as responding to service requests and conducting inspections to identify potential issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Respond to service requests and conduct inspections to identify potential issues.
  • Monitor and maintain facility systems, including temperature control, lighting, and security systems.
  • Assist in the implementation of preventative maintenance programs and ensure that all work is completed in accordance with established processes and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Participate in and assist with facility-related projects, including renovations and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, including environmental, health, and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating ventilation and air conditions systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
  • Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and other building systems and equipment.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC Systems.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Mentoring skills required to support lower-level technician's development.
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency callouts as they arise.
  • Must strictly adhere to Health and Safety policies including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be capable of obtaining appropriate security clearance.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution.
  • Provincial HVAC or apprentice license (e.g., Gasfitter I & II license, refrigeration license).
