Job Summary

The Building Maintenance Technician III is a key member of our facilities operations team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities, including mechanical and electrical systems, performing structured inspections, and providing preventative and corrective maintenance services. This role requires a strong understanding of facility operations and maintenance processes, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and on-demand maintenance services on facility mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to monitor mechanical, electrical, and other equipment system performance.
  • Respond to service requests and perform work in accordance with established processes and practices.
  • Comply with internal and external requirements, including environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the implementation of preventative maintenance programs and ensure that deficiencies are identified and addressed.
  • Participate in facility-related projects and ensure that work is performed in compliance with corporate and legislated policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
  • Sound knowledge of facility operations and maintenance processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and other building systems and equipment.
  • Strong client-service orientation and a high sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC Systems.
  • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Mentoring skills to support lower-level technician development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution.
  • Provincial HVAC or apprentice license (e.g., Gasfitter I & II license, refrigeration license).
