Senior Mine Engineer

About the Role
B2Gold is a leading international gold producer seeking a highly skilled Senior Mine Engineer to join our team in Nunavut, Canada. As a key member of our underground mining department, you will be responsible for designing and implementing mine development and production plans, coordinating with the Manager, Underground Mining, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our mines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop short to medium-range development and production designs, plans, and schedules;
- Coordinate and prioritize underground activities with the Manager, Underground Mining;
- Process and review development and production survey data from the underground mining department;
- Develop drill and blast designs and track backfill efforts;
- Design and implement ventilation strategies for underground lateral development and production;
- Manage explosive forecasts and order timing for production and development explosives;
- Produce QA/QC and reconciliations, including physicals tracking, compliance, and reporting;
- Underground design implementation support and inspections;
- Conduct surveys and studies of ore deposits, ore reserve calculations, and mine design.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of experience in underground mining, including two (2) years of experience in overseeing the work of Engineers in Training (EIT) and engineering technologist level staff;
- Bachelor's degree in geological/mine engineering (B.Eng);
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and membership in the Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists or ability to obtain same;
- Demonstrated proficiency in underground drill and blast planning, design, and scheduling of underground development and stoping, and knowledge of underground surveying and ventilation.
