Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mine Engineer to join our team at our Nunavut operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development and production of our underground mine, ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement short to medium-range development and production plans and schedules;
- Coordinate and prioritize underground activities with the Manager, Underground Mining;
- Process and review development and production survey data from the underground mining department;
- Develop drill and blast designs and track backfill efforts;
- Design and implement ventilation strategies for underground lateral development and production;
- Manage explosive forecasts and order timing for production and development explosives;
- Produce QA/QC and reconciliations including physicals tracking, compliance and reporting;
- Underground design implementation support and inspections;
- Conduct surveys and studies of ore deposits, ore reserve calculations and mine design. Plan, develop, coordinate and conduct theoretical and experimental studies in mining exploration, mine evaluation and feasibility studies relative to the mine development.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of experience underground mining experience in metals mining, including two (2) years of experience in overseeing the work of Engineers in Training (EIT) and engineering technologist level staff;
- Bachelor's degree in geological/mine engineering (B.Eng);
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and membership in the Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist or ability to obtain same. Professional registration is mandatory;
- Demonstrated proficiency in underground drill and blast planning, design and scheduling of underground development and stoping and knowledge of underground surveying and ventilation. A practical understanding of underground mining operations including longhole open stoping and cemented rockfill backfilling methods is an asset.
