Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mine Engineer - Underground Development Specialist to join our team at B2Gold. This is a key role that will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing underground mining operations to ensure safe and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement short to medium-range development and production designs, plans, and schedules.
- Coordinate and prioritize underground activities with the Manager, Underground Mining.
- Process and review development and production survey data from the underground mining department.
- Develop drill and blast designs and track backfill efforts.
- Design and implement ventilation strategies for underground lateral development and production.
- Manage explosive forecasts and order timing for production and development explosives.
- Produce QA/QC and reconciliations, including physicals tracking, compliance, and reporting.
- Underground design implementation support and inspections.
- Conduct surveys and studies of ore deposits, ore reserve calculations, and mine design. Plan, develop, coordinate, and conduct theoretical and experimental studies in mining exploration, mine evaluation, and feasibility studies relative to the mine development.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of experience in underground mining, including two (2) years of experience in overseeing the work of Engineers in Training (EIT) and engineering technologist level staff.
- Bachelor's degree in geological/mine engineering (B.Eng).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and membership in the Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists or ability to obtain same. Professional registration is mandatory.
- Demonstrated proficiency in underground drill and blast planning, design, and scheduling of underground development and stoping, and knowledge of underground surveying and ventilation.
