About the Role:

The City of St. Catharines is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineering Technologist to join our Planning and Building Services team. As a key member of our development coordination team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful implementation of subdivision and site plan agreements, as well as special development and re-development programs.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough site reviews and inspections to verify compliance with subdivision and site plan agreements, as well as special development and re-development programs.
  • Prepare and review technical reports and recommendations for the Planning and Building Services Department, including site servicing reports and engineering-related draft plan approval requirements.
  • Collaborate with developers, consultants, and contractors to ensure that all necessary approvals and financial requirements are met prior to commencement of servicing work.
  • Administer subdivision and site plan agreements, including the review and approval of servicing changes and the release of building permits.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other municipal departments and sections, as well as outside agencies, on matters related to grading, site services, and development type agreements.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations on methods, proposals, and procedures for municipal development in the City of St. Catharines.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve complaints related to municipal development matters.
  • Represent the Planning and Building Services Department at meetings and on committees as required.

Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited university or college in the field of Civil Engineering Technology.
  • Certified Engineering Technologist, Civil discipline.
  • Five years of experience in the civil engineering field.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and developers, contractors, and consultants.
  • Valid Ontario G driver's license.
  • Sound working knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet packages.
  • Proven completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
