Avondale Construction Ltd Atlantic is looking for experienced Superintendents for our operations in Nova Scotia. The Construction Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily activities on the construction site, ensuring that field operations align with the company's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiates, coordinates, and evaluates plans, schedules, and site personnel to meet project goals.
  • Develops and manages three-week look-ahead schedules to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Implements and enforces the Project Safety Program, conducting regular hazard assessments and toolbox meetings.
  • Ensures adequate manpower is available to meet safety, schedule, and quality targets.
  • Collaborates with the Project Manager to prepare comprehensive work plans and schedules.
  • Reviews and provides guidance on quality assurance and control measures.
  • Monitors site instructions and change notices, making necessary adjustments.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the general contracting sector as a Project Lead, particularly in industrial, institutional, or commercial projects. You will demonstrate effective supervision, coordination, and scheduling of construction activities, consistently delivering projects on time and within budget while ensuring client satisfaction. As a strong leader and problem-solver, you will build trust with clients, subcontractors, and team members to achieve excellence in performance.

  • Preferred qualifications include Engineering Technology, journeyman certification, or a related construction discipline.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Project, and Excel).
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and client relations skills.
  • Flexibility and teamwork are essential.
  • Ability to read blueprints and a keen attention to construction details.
