Occupational Therapist

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work collaboratively with residents, families, and inter-professional team members to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain the resident's optimal level of function in the areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.
Key Responsibilities- Provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services to residents in a long-term care setting.
- Establish individualized treatment plans and goals in collaboration with residents and families.
- Manage a busy caseload and use clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis.
- Provide education and support to residents, families, and inter-professional team members.
- Contribute to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines.
- Supervise OT Assistants and adhere to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist who possesses the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
- Licensure with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia is mandatory.
- Experience in seating assessments and pressure management strategies is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of dementia and experience in geriatrics is an asset.
- BCLS certification.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility.
- Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
This is a long-term assignment with a full-time position, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and IncentivesThe successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate of $33.97 - $42.89, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
