About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Revenue (Billing) Specialist to join our Billing Services team at Nova Scotia Power. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for investigating and resolving individual bill issues and exceptions from the daily billing cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and Resolve Bill Issues: You will investigate and resolve individual bill issues and exceptions from the daily billing cycle, ensuring accurate and timely resolution.
  • Calculate and Add Bill Adjustments: You will calculate and add bill adjustments to customer accounts, ensuring accurate and up-to-date billing information.
  • Recreate Customer Bills: You will recreate customer bills based on various Nova Scotia Power approved fees and rates, ensuring accurate and compliant billing.
  • Perform Advanced Billing Functions: You will perform advanced billing functions such as multiple bill cancellations, complex-level adjustments, and re-issuing of multiple or historical bills.
  • Communicate with Staff and Customers: You will communicate and work with staff in other departments, such as Customer Care, Field Operations, and Smart Meter Operations, to ensure seamless billing processes.
  • Provide Billing Support: You will provide billing subject matter support to internal and external customers, ensuring accurate and timely responses to billing inquiries.
  • Adhere to Billing Policies and Procedures: You will adhere to billing and meter reading policies and procedures based on Rates and Regulations for Nova Scotia Power, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum of Grade XII education or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years' relevant experience with billing or metering functions.
  • Skills: Competency using MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, and SharePoint. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate issues.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a small team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to problem solve, make decisions, and/or recommendations.
  • Organizational Skills: Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Confidentiality: Good judgment, initiative, confidentiality, work ethic, and the ability to meet deadlines are of prime importance.
