Position Overview:
The primary objective of this role is to support the accounting team in establishing superior processes within a compliance-focused framework. Responsibilities include investigating, analyzing, validating, and reconciling financial transactions. The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of accounting principles and demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal oversight. A quick learner who pays close attention to detail will excel in enhancing our accounting close cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily bank account reconciliations and ensure monthly reconciliations are completed punctually.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to unapplied cash, credit notes, and customer deposits.
- Assist management with special projects, such as developing processes for unclaimed property, including historical resolutions.
- Participate in various aspects of the month-end closing process, including preparing journal entries.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts associated with Accounts Receivable and other general ledger accounts as assigned.
- Support the analysis of variances in key account balances and provide explanations for discrepancies between actuals and forecasts to management.
- Prepare journal entries for specific transactions, including bank fees and accruals.
- Provide assistance to the accounts receivable team as necessary.
- Undertake additional duties and responsibilities that are logically aligned with the accounting function.
Qualifications:
- Proficient understanding of GAAP principles, accounting transactions, schedules, and financial reporting.
- Self-motivated individual who executes assigned tasks accurately, efficiently, and with diligence.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, coupled with a positive demeanor towards clients and colleagues.
- Contribute to the design of solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting team.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, including V-lookups and Pivot Tables.
- Familiarity with automated financial information systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is advantageous.
- Proven ability to perform tasks within complex operational environments.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, with accounts receivable experience being a plus; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word, along with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with MS Office Suite, Windows Vista, Windows 2003 Server, and Windows XP.
- Preferred knowledge of networking.
- Familiarity with Navision or other ERP systems is a strong advantage.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform essential job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards, including meeting productivity standards.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality are required.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to speak clearly on the telephone.
