Business Group Leader - Landfill Operations

GHD is seeking a highly experienced Business Group Leader to lead our established Ontario Region business. This is an outstanding leadership opportunity to run CRA Landfill Operations Ltd, a wholly owned entity of GHD, which has a contract for operations at the Green Lane landfill with the City of Toronto.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Landfill Business Group commercial performance
  • Manage operations and construction work at the Landfill
  • Ensure safety is at the forefront of all activities and is in compliance with company and Landfill policies, standards, and legislation
  • Formulate short and long-term goals and action plans to optimize the landfill, services, and environmental compliance
  • Provide input and manage Business Group performance, people, and resource requirements for approximately 16 staff members
  • Financial reviews of project including annual budgeting process to ensure minimizing costs in compliance with contract requirements
  • Provide leadership to the Business Group in line with GHD's core values and objectives
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years experience as an Operations manager directly responsible for the supervision, coordination, and management of operations on a landfill site managing greater than 400,000 tonnes MSW waste per year or equivalent
  • Experience in the methods and techniques of integrated solid waste management systems including in-depth knowledge of landfill gas, leachate, and other landfill site systems
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations related to waste management systems
  • Preference for possession of a Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) certification (or willingness to obtain same)
  • Ability to develop lasting client relationships based on trust and delivery excellence
  • Ability to mentor and train team members
