About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Specialist to join our team at Intact Financial Corporation. As a Senior Tax Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's tax compliance and regulatory requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the tax accounting and reporting cycle, including provisioning and reporting.
  • Manage the quarterly reviews and annual audit by the external auditor.
  • Prepare corporate tax returns, forms, and elections for Canadian entities of the group.
  • Assist with the preparation of formal responses to tax authority audit queries.
  • Advise accounting and other internal stakeholders on the tax impact of internal reorganization projects and ensure all compliance requirements are met.
  • Monitor changes in tax policies, accounting, and financial reporting to ensure compliance.
  • Provide support, advice, and training to business units regarding the application of tax laws applicable to federal and provincial jurisdictions.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax memos and process documentation.
  • Assist with technical research and analyses for reporting purposes.
  • Participate in tax process enhancement and tax technology implementation projects.
  • Liaise with other finance teams in the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or taxation or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Master's degree in taxation or advanced tax course(s) from CPA is an asset.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in public accounting or industry.
  • Experience in Canadian tax compliance and knowledge of income tax accounting.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and of tax compliance software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to meet tight deadlines.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
