About the Role

As a Research Data Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and accessibility of research data within the Ocean Safety Research Unit (OSRU). You will collaborate closely with researchers, coordinators, and other stakeholders to develop and implement robust data management plans for diverse research projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with research teams to design and execute comprehensive data management strategies, encompassing data collection forms, entry processes, validation techniques, and participant tracking systems.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to researchers on data management best practices, software utilization, and data quality assurance procedures.
  • Develop and implement efficient workflows for data collection, processing, and reporting, leveraging tools such as Qualtrics and programming languages like Python.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis and generate reports to support research objectives, utilizing statistical software packages like SPSS.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures for data management within the OSRU.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing research data, ideally within an academic or research setting.
  • A strong educational background, including a Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework towards a Master's degree or a completed Master's degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with qualitative data analysis software like NVivo.
  • Familiarity with quantitative data management techniques and statistical software packages such as SPSS.
  • A basic understanding of database principles, including relational databases, and the ability to write SQL queries.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly.
