Job Summary: We are seeking a Marine Hydrodynamics Research Officer to support our Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering research centre.

As a Marine Hydrodynamics Research Officer, you will support the goals of NRC through the delivery of applied hydrodynamics research in the field of ocean and naval architecture. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with clients and collaborators to design and conduct experimental test programs, analyze results, and communicate findings through technical reports and journal and conference manuscripts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct experimental test programs for ships and marine structures in open water, analyzing results in accordance with NRC standards and international standards.
  • Assist in the design and optimization of marine systems, considering hull forms, propulsion systems, and stabilities.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate experimental results and project progress.
  • Project management and technical lead, representing NRC on national and international committees as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the state-of-the-art in physical modelling techniques, tools, and software.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Ocean and Naval Architectural Engineering or relevant area of expertise.
  • Strong experience working with the principles of hydrodynamics applied to ocean and naval architectural engineering.
  • Experience in evaluating ship performance in open water through model-scale experimental programs.
  • Experience with project management methods, practices, and tools.

    • Demonstrated ability in developing technical reports, conference/journal manuscripts, and associated presentations in English.

Compensation: This position is classified as a Research Officer (RO), a group that is unique to the NRC. Candidates are remunerated based on their expertise, outcomes, and impacts of their previous work experience relative to the requirements of the level.
