Position Overview: As a Cleaner within the BGIS SCS Team, your primary responsibility will be to maintain cleanliness in a designated area, with a strong focus on quality assurance, health and safety, and exceeding client expectations.

Key Duties: As an integral member of the operational team, reporting to the Manager/Supervisor, the Cleaner will be responsible for:

  • Sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming floors
  • Cleaning the exterior perimeter of the building
  • Disposing of waste materials
  • Transporting refuse from collection points to disposal bins or compactors
  • Cleaning and storing equipment and tools used in the cleaning process
  • Refilling cleaning supplies as necessary
  • Adhering to proper dilution procedures for cleaning agents
  • Performing low and high dusting, surface wiping, glass cleaning, and restroom sanitation as needed
  • Informing supervisors of the need for significant repairs
  • Undertaking additional tasks as assigned by management based on facility requirements (e.g., cleaning appliances, operating dishwashers)

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in cleaning, housekeeping, and maintenance activities within an institutional environment.
  • Familiarity with floor maintenance equipment, cleaning tools, materials, and solutions.
  • Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant provisions applicable to this role, including WHMIS.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster cooperative relationships with colleagues, clients, and the public.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and shifts as required, including at various locations.
  • Capacity to follow both verbal and written instructions, and to maintain accurate manual and electronic records.
