The Transportation and Development Services Division is responsible for the planning and implementation of municipal and third-party infrastructure projects within public rights-of-way. Under the guidance of a senior technician or manager, the Engineering Technician II will engage in technical tasks associated with municipal engineering. Key responsibilities include:

  • Addressing public inquiries and providing informative responses.
  • Creating design drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Evaluating design drawings and completed projects.
  • Managing smaller municipal infrastructure initiatives.
  • Offering technical assistance to senior personnel.

Ideal candidates will possess a robust understanding of road and active transportation design principles, along with experience in transportation design modeling using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a two-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution, alongside a minimum of three months of relevant experience. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the Applied Science Technologies and Technicians of BC and should be proficient in engineering software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence is also required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will typically work Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week), with potential for flexible hours and occasional remote work based on project needs.
