Job Summary:

The District of Saanich is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our Engineering Department. As an Engineering Technician IV, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical work involving field and office assignments related to civil engineering design, transportation, underground utilities, and land development.
  • Conduct site servicing reviews for land development, contract administration, and inspection of construction projects.
  • Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final design drawings, and direct junior staff on specific projects when required.
  • Assist with the review of subdivision and development applications, perform project scoping, and manage the design and delivery of engineering projects.
  • Respond to public inquiries, provide technical support to internal construction crews, and liaise with/make recommendations to the Engineering of Record regarding design changes.
  • Participate in intra or inter-departmental initiatives and contribute to the development of engineering projects.

Requirements:

  • A two-year diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of directly related experience.
  • Eligibility for registration as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians BC.
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
  • A personal vehicle available for use as and when required.
  • Proficiency in computer-based engineering applications, including AutoCAD.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week).
