Astellas Pharma Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Therapeutic Area Head, Oncology Medical Affairs to lead our Medical Affairs team in Canada. As a key member of our Medical Affairs Leadership Team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to our Medical Affairs activities in the Oncology therapeutic area.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive Medical Affairs strategy for the Oncology therapeutic area, aligned with our company's overall business objectives.
- Provide medical and scientific expertise to support new product development efforts and commercial success of locally marketed products.
- Lead and coordinate training of APCA personnel on medical and scientific information related to Astellas products within the assigned therapeutic area.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Astellas Medical and Scientific Affairs colleagues and represent APCA in Regional and Global meetings.
- Collaborate with US, Established Markets and Global Medical Affairs in the design and/or implementation of international clinical studies in Canada.
- Establish Medical and Scientific Affairs Advisory Boards and collaborate with advisors to strategize and implement Medical Affairs Strategic Plan.
- Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, key external experts, and allied health professionals to ensure medical and scientific understanding and advocacy around Astellas medicines.
- Embed Compliance Culture across all Regions of the business ensuring Integrity in Action is actively applied in all initiatives.
- A graduate degree in life sciences (Ph.D., Pharm.D., or MD).
- Minimum 7 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical and Scientific Affairs, clinical research, or project management.
- Knowledge of healthcare environment and local and international regulations.
- Strong leadership ability, excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and administrative skills.
- Ability to manage local, national, and international travel, with up to 30% overnight travel.
- Assigned therapeutic area(s) experience.
- Bilingual (English/French).
