About the Role

Astellas Pharma Canada is seeking a seasoned Medical Affairs professional to lead our Oncology Therapeutic Area team. As a key member of our Medical Affairs Leadership Team, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to advance the medical and scientific understanding of our products in the oncology space.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategy
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive medical and scientific excellence in the oncology therapeutic area.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the Oncology Therapeutic Area team, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Medical and Scientific Expertise
    • Utilize your medical and scientific expertise to support new product development efforts and commercial success of locally marketed products.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key external experts, allied health professionals, and stakeholders to ensure medical and scientific understanding and advocacy around Astellas medicines.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Closely collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, Patient Access, and Government Relations, to support activities with marketed products and meet corporate objectives.
    • Provide medical and scientific expertise to launch planning teams, including input on market research, target product profile, disease state management knowledge, and draft labeling.
  • Compliance and Ethics
    • Embed a culture of compliance and ethics across all regions of the business, ensuring integrity in action and adherence to Astellas policies relating to ethics and compliance standards.
    • Ensure the Medical Affairs function strictly adopts a culture of ethics and compliance, leading by example and challenging non-compliance.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in medical affairs, with a focus on oncology.
  • Proven leadership and strategic planning experience, with a track record of driving medical and scientific excellence.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
