Position Overview

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a Project Manager to oversee significant infrastructure initiatives within the region. This role involves managing projects valued at over $100 million, ensuring adherence to established project management policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the successful execution of large-scale projects and a portfolio of various projects.
  • Collaborate with GN functional support teams for quality assurance and engage contractors and consultants for engineering and construction tasks.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within the specified Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and comply with GN Project Management standards.
  • Manage funding allocations, cash flow forecasts, and carryover funding to support project execution.
  • Work closely with Planning and Operations & Maintenance Departments to secure necessary approvals and ensure accurate estimates for funding requests.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A recognized degree in a relevant field; an engineering degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of three years of progressive project management experience in sectors such as:
    • Linear infrastructure (water and sewer systems)
    • Water and sewage treatment facilities
    • Commercial buildings exceeding 6,000 square meters
    • Petroleum storage and oil refinery projects
    • General civil works including roads and foundations
  • Experience in field construction, with a proven track record of managing projects from initiation through to handover.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Gold Seal Certification (GSC) is considered an asset.

Language Requirements

Fluency in one or more of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, French) is preferred. Knowledge of Inuit culture and experience in a cross-cultural environment will be beneficial.
