Position Overview

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee significant infrastructure initiatives. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful execution of projects valued at $100 million or more, as well as managing a diverse portfolio of projects with varying complexities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the GN Project Management Policy and CGS Project Management Process to ensure project delivery meets established standards.
  • Collaborate with GN functional support teams for quality assurance and work closely with contractors and consultants in engineering and construction.
  • Manage project funding, cash flow forecasting, and ensure adherence to GN Project Management procedures.
  • Engage with Planning and Operations & Maintenance Departments to secure necessary approvals at each project phase.
  • Monitor construction activities, ensuring safety protocols are followed and identifying potential risks early in the process.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A recognized degree in a relevant field; an engineering degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of progressive project management experience in sectors such as linear infrastructure, water treatment facilities, commercial buildings, or civil works.
  • Hands-on experience in construction management, with a proven track record of delivering projects from initiation through to completion.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Gold Seal Certification (GSC) is an asset.

Language and Cultural Competence

Fluency in one or more of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, French) is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit culture and experience in a cross-cultural environment will be highly regarded.
