Project Coordinator

Position Overview
The Government of Nunavut is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee significant projects within our territory. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of projects valued at $100 million or more, as well as managing a diverse portfolio of smaller initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the GN Project Management Policy and CGS Project Management Process to ensure project delivery aligns with established standards.
- Collaborate with GN functional teams to support quality assurance and engage contractors and consultants in engineering and construction activities.
- Manage project funding, forecasting, and cash flow to meet financial objectives.
- Work closely with the Planning and Operations & Maintenance Departments to secure necessary approvals and ensure quality estimates for funding requests.
- Monitor construction activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and efficient methodologies.
- Identify potential construction risks early and assess resource allocations effectively.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A recognized degree in a relevant field; an engineering degree is advantageous.
- A minimum of three years of progressive project management experience in sectors such as linear infrastructure, water treatment facilities, commercial buildings, or civil works.
- Hands-on experience in field construction, with a proven track record of managing projects from initiation through to completion.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Gold Seal Certification (GSC) is preferred.
Language Proficiency
Fluency in one or more of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, French) is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit culture and experience in a cross-cultural environment are also valuable.
