Position Overview
The Certified Respiratory Care Specialist at Mackenzie Health is pivotal in delivering high-quality, patient-centered healthcare.

This role involves the continuous monitoring, evaluation, and treatment of patients with cardio-respiratory conditions throughout the hospital.

Key duties include executing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions such as arterial line placements, intubations for both adults and neonates, LMA insertions, and tracheostomy tube management.

As a vital member of the interprofessional care team, you will play a significant role in fostering a premier health experience for patients and their families. Responsibilities for Ensuring Quality Care

  • Efficiently managing a diverse workload in a dynamic healthcare setting.
  • Proactively addressing and resolving challenges in a constructive and respectful manner.
  • Applying sound professional judgment and adhering to best practice protocols.
  • Promoting a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all by following patient and staff safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
  • Active registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or eligibility for employment as a Graduate Respiratory Therapist, with a commitment to achieving registration within six months of hire.
  • Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certificate within six months of hire.
Additional Skills and Attributes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Windows.
  • Strong attendance record.
  • Understanding and compliance with safety policies that ensure a secure and inclusive environment.
  • Ability to fulfill the essential responsibilities of the position.
  • Empathetic approach in interactions with patients and colleagues.

  • Dedication to providing outstanding experiences for both staff and clients in a challenging healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good standing membership with relevant professional bodies.
  • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • At least one year of experience in an acute healthcare environment.
  • Experience in NICU and Labor & Delivery settings.
  • Proficiency in a second language is advantageous.
