The Clinical Respiratory Therapist at Mackenzie Health is pivotal in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
This role involves the monitoring, evaluation, treatment, and education of patients with cardio-respiratory conditions across various departments within the hospital.
Key responsibilities include executing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions such as arterial line placements, intubations for both adults and neonates, LMA insertions, and tracheostomy tube modifications.
In this position, you will work both autonomously and collaboratively within an interprofessional care team, contributing to a superior health experience for patients and their families. You will embody professionalism, uphold our core values of excellence, leadership, and empathy, and exemplify our Commitment to Caring.
Your Contributions to Quality Care Include:- Efficiently managing a diverse workload in a dynamic environment.
- Proactively addressing and resolving challenges in a constructive and respectful manner.
- Exercising sound professional judgment and adhering to best practice protocols.
- Fostering a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all by complying with patient and staff safety regulations.
- Active registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or eligibility to be employed as a Graduate Respiratory Therapist until successful registration is achieved within six months of hire.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certificate within six months of hire.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in Windows-based computer applications.
- A strong attendance record.
- Understanding and adherence to patient and staff safety policies that promote a secure and inclusive environment.
- Ability to fulfill the essential functions of the role.
- Empathetic engagement in interactions with others.
- Demonstration of behaviors aligned with Mackenzie Health's Commitment to Caring and values of Excellence, Leadership, and Empathy.
- Dedication to delivering an exceptional experience for both staff and clients in a challenging healthcare landscape.
- Good standing membership with the relevant professional body.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- At least one year of experience in an acute healthcare environment.
- Experience in NICU and Labor & Delivery settings.
- Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
