Senior Estimator - Civil Construction

Milner Group Ventures Inc is dedicated to fostering a safe and healthy work environment where safety is paramount in all our operations.

As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our team by preparing detailed cost estimates for a variety of civil construction projects. You will collaborate closely with management to strategize on bidding processes and establish service pricing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing leadership and oversight for all secured projects across the region.
  • Conducting site visits and assessments as necessary.
  • Completing a Post-Secondary program with a focus on Civil Construction is advantageous.
  • Reading and interpreting civil construction drawings and performing comprehensive material take-offs.
  • Utilizing problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills effectively.
  • Employing Microsoft Office for project bidding and administration.
  • Having knowledge of Adobe, AutoCAD, and/or Bluebeam is preferred.
  • Holding a valid BC Driver's license.

In this role, you will assist the estimating department throughout the entire bid process and ensure project completion by:

  • Proactively managing project timelines and budgets.
  • Monitoring project progress, scheduling, and conducting cost analyses.
  • Communicating professionally with owners, consultants, trades, and staff to facilitate efficient project execution.
  • Coordinating with clients, vendors, and construction supervisors to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Preparing and processing necessary documentation for project costing and billing on a monthly basis.
  • Evaluating the cost-effectiveness of products and services, tracking actual costs against bids as projects evolve.
  • Conducting special studies to establish standard hour and cost data or to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Analyzing blueprints and construction documents to prepare specific time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
