Civil Project Manager

Copcan Civil, a part of NorLand Limited, is an award-winning civil construction company with offices in various locations. The company has a proven track record of successfully completing projects throughout Vancouver Island and the BC Interior, including highways, bridge construction, underground utilities, demolitions, marine infrastructure projects, private development, and municipal works.

We are seeking a Civil Project Manager in Nanaimo with extensive knowledge and experience in city, urban pipe laying, and road building.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the safety and performance of crews on various and sometimes challenging projects.
  • Lead from the front lines, directing the work and being with the crew at all times.
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications to provide clear instructions to the crew.
  • Maintain daily records, including crew and equipment time, material receiving, production, and summary of activity on site.
  • Provide training and ensure the development of the crew.
  • Plan ahead with Superintendents to ensure materials and resources are in place ahead of the work.
  • Act as a working foreperson if needed.
  • Work in a safe and respectful manner on company and client job sites.
  • Operate as a productive member of a high-functioning team.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience leading crews on civil projects.
  • Safety knowledge and experience in the construction industry (WorkSafe Regulations, industry best practices).
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • First aid is considered an asset.
  • Fitness to work – ability to see, hear, walk, stand, and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Willingness to work in varied weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as needed by project requirements.

Compensation: The expected wage range is $39.32 – $43.00 per hour, with exact compensation varying based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal equity, and other criteria.
