Role Summary
What is the opportunity?
As a Lead Frontend Engineer within the UX/UI division of the Innovation and Technology team, you will play a pivotal role in spearheading transformative initiatives at the Royal Bank of Canada. This position provides a unique chance to take charge of developing user-focused interfaces that enhance the daily experiences of RBC employees. You will work in close collaboration with designers and backend developers, utilizing your knowledge to craft sleek, intuitive, and responsive interfaces that boost user engagement and satisfaction. With an emphasis on innovation, you will have the opportunity to explore new technologies and methodologies for various applications that are data-driven and client-facing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of advanced frontend interfaces within RBC's Innovation and Technology sector and Wealth Management.
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to convert design concepts into user-friendly and visually striking interfaces, incorporating animations and micro-interactions to further enhance the user experience.
- Apply your expertise in frontend technologies to develop responsive and accessible web applications.
- Foster innovation by investigating and utilizing new frontend frameworks, tools, and techniques.
- Mentor junior developers, promoting a culture of learning and development within the team.
- Work in tandem with backend developers to ensure smooth integration of frontend and backend systems.
- Conduct code reviews and uphold best practices to maintain high standards of code quality.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve the bank's internal digital solutions.
Qualifications for Success
Essential Skills
- Proven ability in both written and verbal communication, along with strong presentation skills. Capable of identifying the information and communication needs of stakeholders and projects.
- 3-4 years of experience in HTML5/SASS/CSS, creating pixel-perfect interfaces based on design wireframes.
- 3-4 years of experience in TypeScript and JavaScript, with a deep understanding of both languages.
- 2-3 years of experience with frameworks such as React, VueJS, or Angular.
- 3-4 years of experience using Git or other version control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
- Experience in the technology and/or financial services sector.
- Backend development experience in Node.JS, Python 3, or C#.
- Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate across functions and departments.
