Position Responsibilities: The Indigenous Housing Stability Navigator, under the guidance of the Executive Director or Designate, will be responsible for delivering personalized case management to assist clients in maintaining and enhancing their housing stability.

The Navigator will collaborate closely with other case management personnel and clients to facilitate the transition to secure and stable housing. This will involve:

  • Identifying individual goals
  • Enhancing life skills
  • Providing suitable referrals to overcome barriers to a healthy lifestyle

Qualifications:

  • A 2-year College diploma in Social Service work, Indigenous Studies, or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in an Indigenous organization or community, in a homelessness or social service context, or a combination of equivalent experience as determined by the Executive Director
  • Experience in case management, planning, and coordination for individuals with complex support needs
  • Proven ability to initiate support service plans addressing safety, basic needs, relationships, daily activities, life skills, social integration, risk management, and goal setting for increased independence
  • Capability to provide crisis management, advocacy, and outreach as necessary
  • Collaboration with program staff to deliver workshops and events that enhance wrap-around services for clients and strengthen community education
  • Awareness of Indigenous culture and history, particularly regarding the impacts of trauma
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other database applications for statistical and narrative reporting
  • First Aid/CPR and non-violent crisis intervention certification, or willingness to obtain
  • A valid driver's license with a clear driving record is preferred
  • Must obtain a clean Criminal Record and Judicial Matters (CPIC) check with Vulnerable Sector Search within 30 days of hiring
