About the Role

The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is seeking a skilled and compassionate Indigenous Housing Stability Navigator to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting clients in maintaining and sustaining their housing in a good way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized case management to support clients in achieving their housing stability goals.
  • Work closely with other case management staff and existing clients to ensure a seamless transition and effective support.
  • Identify goals, strengthen life skills, and provide referrals to address barriers that may deter a healthy lifestyle.
  • Develop and implement support service plans that address safety, basic needs, relationships, daily activities, life skills, social and community integration, risks and triggers, managing tenancy, economic and wellness opportunities, and create goals for greater independence.
  • Provide crisis management, advocacy, and outreach as required.
  • Collaborate with program staff to deliver workshops and events to enhance wrap-around services for clients and strengthen community education.
  • Build and maintain lasting working relationships with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of clients.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and other database applications for statistical and narrative reporting.
  • First Aid/CPR and non-violent crisis intervention certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid driver's license with a clear driving record (asset).
  • Clean Criminal Record and Judicial Matters (CPIC) check with Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) within 30 days of hiring date.
Requirements
  • 2-year College diploma in Social Service work, Indigenous Studies, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2-years of demonstrated and related work experience within an Indigenous organization or community, homelessness and/or social service setting, or a combination of equivalent experience as deemed relevant by the Executive Director.
  • Experience in case management, planning, and coordination for people with complex support needs.
  • Awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on the impacts of trauma.
