Qualifications and Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled Health Science Professional to join our team at Island Health. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant health science discipline and have a strong background in infection control processes and quality improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years' recent related acute care clinical experience, including one year of demonstrated experience working directly with infection control processes, policies, and activities. They will also have a strong working knowledge of program development and implementation, as well as performance measures.

In addition to their clinical experience, the ideal candidate will possess advanced communication, writing, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills. They will also have a proven ability to track, coordinate, and address issues as they affect proposed action plans, and be able to write, analyze, and edit project plans and proposals with accuracy and consistency.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently or as part of a team, and have the ability to organize and prioritize work. They will also have a comprehensive knowledge of current clinical practices and methodologies, and be able to critique, organize, and analyze information.

We are looking for a candidate who is able to effectively introduce, implement, and evaluate new policies and procedures, and who has conflict management skills and the physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to improve patient care and outcomes
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify and address infection control issues
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to infection control and quality improvement
  • Provide education and training to healthcare staff on infection control and quality improvement practices
  • Conduct audits and evaluations to ensure compliance with infection control and quality improvement standards
