Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Professional to join our team at Island Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work with clients with mental health and substance use issues, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to clients with mental health and substance use issues.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that address the unique needs of each client.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support.
  • Provide education and support to clients and their families on mental health and substance use issues.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify client needs and develop effective treatment plans.
Requirements
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant.
  • Up to two years recent related experience working with clients with addictions and concurrent disorders in a variety of settings.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (2nd ed).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation.
  • Knowledge of available programs and services, their interrelationships, and their function in delivering care in the community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certificate.
  • Experience working with adults and youth with mental health and substance use issues.
  • Valid BC Driver's License.
