Job Title: Wine Director

Job Summary:

The Wine Director will be responsible for curating, developing, and managing the wine program at Il Caminetto, a vibrant and contemporary dining room in the heart of Whistler's Village. This role requires a strong passion for wine and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day beverage operations of the restaurant
  • Serve as an educator and inspirational leader to the front-of-house teams
  • Prepare for and inspire staff to deliver a memorable beverage experience
  • Display a passion for and about wine and the industry
  • Deliver superior customer service through effective training and education
  • Lead by example by delivering superior consistent customer service and hospitality
  • Maximize resources and budget by maintaining and monitoring inventory and expenses
  • Develop a strong rapport with agents and wineries
  • Drive positive results and align with business goals

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience leading a premium food and beverage operation
  • Holds a high-level, professionally recognized Sommelier certification from WSET, CMS, ISG or another valued equivalent
  • Related university degree or a combination of education and experience
  • Strong business acumen with a proven ability to provide insightful industry leading, best-in-class outcomes to perpetuate growth in a premium service environment
  • Highly committed to a premium level of quality
  • Skilled at developing and creating food and beverage experiences that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze current business problems and implement recommended solutions
  • A solutions-provider committed to a vision of service to create an ultimate guest experience
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Superior conflict resolution skills, with the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, clientele, suppliers, and partners
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Comfortable with dealing with media, public speaking, and VIP guests
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
