Your Opportunity:

This position presents an exciting chance to join the Alberta Health Services team. As an Administrative Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our healthcare facilities. Under the general supervision of the Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for the efficient administration of various clinics, including Ambulatory Care and IV Therapy. Your responsibilities will encompass managing incoming and outgoing communications, welcoming and directing patients and visitors, and overseeing patient records and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate effective communication among healthcare professionals, departments, patients, and their families while ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
  2. Perform a variety of administrative tasks, including reception duties, greeting visitors, and maintaining accurate patient records.
  3. Transcribe and process clinician orders, including those related to medications, laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging.
  4. Schedule patient appointments and coordinate necessary tests or treatments.
  5. Ensure that adequate supplies are available for the inter-professional team and support various administrative activities within the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, along with an accredited Unit Clerk Course or similar training program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong critical thinking abilities, demonstrated time-management, and organizational skills in a dynamic environment. Ability to prioritize tasks effectively amidst frequent interruptions and distractions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with well-developed interpersonal abilities.
