Under the guidance of the Chief Technologist or their delegate, the Laboratory Support Technician engages in specimen collection, preparation, and analysis, while also performing associated clerical and laboratory support tasks.

Conducts inpatient and/or outpatient Electrocardiogram (ECG) assessments, and/or Holter monitor evaluations as necessary, while providing explanations of testing procedures. Responsible for routine maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment.

Updated Wage:
The revised wage is: $28.17/hour

Work Schedule: Days - 06:30 to 14:30, 07:00 to 15:00, 07:30 to 15:30, 08:00 to 16:00, 09:00 to 17:00 on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, and one (1) year of recent, relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to interact positively with others.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties required of the position.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Competence in operating relevant equipment.
  • Typing speed of at least 25 words per minute.
