Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the specimen collection process, ensuring that patients receive accurate and timely test results.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Specimen Collection: Greet and request required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients have followed necessary test protocol prior to specimen collection.
  2. Phlebotomy and Special Test Collections: Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings. Conduct special test collections, such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.
  3. Client Relationships: Maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
  4. Data Entry and Specimen Preparation: Complete data entry of required patient demographics, requisition information, and other information related to processing test results. Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
Requirements
  1. Education and Training: Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  2. Technical Skills: Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
  3. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, clients, and colleagues.
