We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Business Development Director to lead and drive the business development agenda within International Wealth Management (IWM) at Scotiabank.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Implement Client Segmentation Strategies: Develop and implement client segmentation frameworks, market research, and strategic business plans to achieve sustained and profitable growth across segments and business lines.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with cross-functional teams to set target volumes and client segmentation goals, and ensure seamless execution of the segmentation program.
- Track Performance and Provide Insights: Monitor the performance of wealth segments and specific initiatives against set targets, and provide regular reports and insights to senior management on the progress and outcomes of the segment strategy.
- Develop Multi-Year Plans: Create multi-year plans for the profitable growth of the client base based on client segmentation, market/economic conditions, business objectives, and competitive positioning.
- Establish and Oversee Segmentation Framework: Develop and implement the segmentation framework and standard operating procedures across the organization.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with Retail, Wealth Management, and other stakeholders to ensure effective execution of the segmentation program.
- Monitor Performance and Identify Areas for Improvement: Monitor the performance of segmentation against established KPIs, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary changes.
- Ensure Strong Controls and Effectiveness: Ensure strong controls and effectiveness of our internal referral process, aligning clients to the appropriate services across the Bank.
- Collaborate on Business Value Creation and Growth Initiatives: Work with cross-functional teams to create and implement business value creation and growth initiatives.
- Promote a Data-Driven Culture: Leverage analytics to identify distinct client segments and recommend enhancements in products and services.
- Conduct In-Depth Research: Conduct in-depth internal and external research to inform strategy and understand the characteristics and needs of the eHNW, HNW, and UHNW segments and sub-segments.
- Ensure Effective Operations: Ensure effective and efficient operations while adhering to day-to-day business controls to meet obligations related to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
- Build a High-Performance Environment: Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team.
- Master's Degree or MBA: A Master's degree or MBA preferred with 5+ years of relevant experience in financial services.
- Strong Understanding of Wealth Management Business: A strong understanding of Wealth Management business including Brokerage, Private Banking, Offshore, and Trust offerings.
- Advanced Knowledge of International Wealth Management Industry: Advanced knowledge of International Wealth Management industry, competitors, and their products and services including segmentation, trends, and in-depth understanding of HNW and affluent customers' financial service needs.
- Fluency in Spanish: Fluency in Spanish is an asset; on-the-ground experience working in Latin America is an asset.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, and ability to build solid relationships at all levels and across geographies.
- Strong Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving abilities to identify client pain points and propose solutions.
- Strong Organization and Self-Management Skills: Strong organization and self-management skills to convert strategic objectives and plans into measurable results.
